Seeking Contact
When doctors said there was no hope, she decided to prove them wrong

When a life-threatening, incurable disease strikes, a spiritual teacher boldly rejects conventional medicine for an alternative healing path, but conflicting MRI results force her to confront profound doubts about the true power of consciousness

"Seeking Contact" delves into the profound journey of Dalit Eliyahu Burantin, a seasoned spiritual teacher whose life took a dramatic turn in 2018 with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This chronic, progressive, and conventionally incurable disease threatened to paralyze her. For many, this would mark the end of hope; for Dalit, it was a new beginning. Rejecting conventional medications, injections, and rigid medical protocols, she chose to seize control, embarking on a controversial path where every decision is a declaration of faith: the power to heal resides within.

The film centers on the inherent tension between two distinct approaches: conventional medicine, represented by leading physicians, and Dalit's alternative path. As a spiritual psychology teacher, she is compelled to apply her teachings to her own body - the belief that every physical ailment stems from an emotional conflict requiring transformation. This involves taking responsibility for her consciousness and radically altering her lifestyle. She adopts an extreme diet, incorporates mushrooms and cannabis, undergoes invasive leech treatments, and makes a dramatic move from bustling Tel Aviv to the tranquil Galilee. The camera draws the viewer into fascinating, at times difficult-to-watch, encounters where physical pain intertwines with the unwavering hope for healing.

Dalit's journey is far from linear, marked by both astonishing successes and profound setbacks. The film captures "medical miracles" that astound doctors on camera, such as six years of stable MRI results and even a reduction in lesions - a phenomenon rarely seen in MS patients. This led her to declare, "it's absolutely clear there is no active disease, and there won't be." However, the film plunges into a dramatic turning point when a recent MRI reveals an unexpected deterioration in her spinal cord. This blow shakes her to her core: Was she wrong? Is her refusal to obey doctors jeopardizing her life? Could her entire arduous journey - consciousness work, alternative treatments, a complete life relocation - collapse in the face of cold, unfeeling medical imaging? This crisis forces her to confront fear directly, and with it, the fundamental question: What is true healing?

Beyond the physical struggle, "Seeking Contact" explores Dalit's emotional landscape. She navigates the skepticism of the medical establishment and the reactions of her inner circle, who sometimes believe she's "living in a movie." She also endures a significant personal upheaval - the painful end of a seven-year relationship - which she bravely connects to deep childhood traumas related to her mother. During filming, the "Iron Swords" war erupts, leaving a profound scar on the psyche and bodies of many Israelis. This confronts Dalit with her own childhood emotional pains, and the role she chooses to embrace: not to hide the difficulty but to face it proudly. This process of emotional processing becomes an integral part of her personal healing journey, which she imparts as a spiritual psychology teacher, as her body and soul reflect each other.

"Seeking Contact" follows Dalit through two sharp, contrasting cinematic layers: on one side, meticulously filmed professional interviews where she reflects on her life story, fears, and the faith that guided her choices; on the other, an intimate "Connected"-style camera penetrates her raw daily life - loneliness, pain, doubts, and the noticeable limp in her stride that exposes her ongoing struggle. This fusion of styles creates a multi-layered viewing experience: her powerful and inspiring persona as a teacher clashes and unites with her vulnerability as a woman battling her body and inner demons.

The film blends an intimate and exposed style with a deep philosophical gaze. It poses universal questions about faith, responsibility, the limits of medicine, and humanity's capacity for self-healing. This is a personal journey story, but also a broader discussion about our society, the fears and beliefs that shape our paths, and the discovery of the immense power inherent in the mind-body connection when facing seemingly impossible challenges - offering a message of hope and empowerment in an era of anxiety and uncertainty.
