The Cactus That Tought Me Love
Have you ever wondered how an encounter with a cactus could change your life?
In the unique talk "The Cactus That Taught Me to Love", journalist and documentary filmmaker Kaitz Brebner takes you on a remarkable journey inspired by his film "Cactus, Love, Mountains: A Psychedelic Journey with Huachuma", which documents an extraordinary consciousness-expanding journey in Peru. Led by the shaman Gendu, the journey combines the psychedelic power of the "San Pedro" cactus with breathtaking landscapes, enchanted paintings, and personal testimonies. For many - including Kaitz himself - this is a life-changing experience that deepens our connection to nature, spirituality, and the true meaning of self-love.
After the screening, Kaitz will share with the audience his personal spiritual journey and the transformative experiences that have shaped his life - many of which were sparked by his encounter with the cactus. In addition, he will read excerpts from his forthcoming book "This Specific Moment in Eternity", which recounts his personal journey with psychedelic substances, conversations with God, and extraordinary encounters with fascinating figures.
The workshop offers a unique blend of nature, art, and consciousness, and is ideal for anyone seeking inspiration for inner reflection, personal growth, and a deeper connection to the world around us.
"After years of struggling with my ego - which often made me feel inferior at times and superior at others - I chose to embark on a consciousness journey with the psychedelic San Pedro cactus in order to live at peace with myself. The indigenous people of the Andes mountains in Peru have used this cactus for thousands of years to heal the soul and spirit. Shaman Gendu leads a group of strangers - among them parents with their 16-year-old daughter, a young woman seeking masculine energy, and a Spaniard who wishes to open her inner abilities - to the mountain peaks, where they ultimately meet themselves."
The film seeks to convey the psychedelic experience through stunning mountain imagery, enchanted paintings inspired by the cactus, and the words of the participants themselves. Many Israelis who travel to Peru during their post-army trip or during a deeper, year-long personal journey - as Kaitz did - encounter this cactus and its healing powers, and often decide to change the course of their lives following the profound experience.
